Shino Hazuki (葉月 志乃, Hazuki Shino) is a nurse at AH Tokyo General Hospital who works under Dr. Fumio Takashina.
It is later revealed that she plays Empire Sweeper Online (ESO) under the handle Grimm (グリム, Gurimu), presumably for the sole purpose of monitoring Takumi Nishijou.
Appearance[]
Hazuki appears to be in her early to mid 20s and wears a nurse’s uniform. She may or may not wear glasses, depending on whether or not Takumi Nishijou says he prefers girls with glasses at the beginning of ChäoS;HEAd.
Personality[]
Hazuki puts on a façade of being a caring nurse but is actually a religious fanatic of Cosmic Church of the Divine Light, willing to go to any lengths, including brutally killing people and sacrificing her own unborn child, to follow orders given to her by the church's founder Yuudai Kuramochi. She frequently scribbles the same image of the Cruc-affixion case on empty papers.
Hazuki is in a romantic relationship with Mamoru Suwa, and seems to genuinely love him.
As Grimm, Hazuki puts on a persona of a friendly male gamer who enjoys following New Gen cases, as well as gory content in general and likes to bait Takumi (chat name Neidhardt) by sending such content to him, or instead, pretending to send something brutal, only for it to be some innocent scribble. Grimm acts supportive and encouraging to Neidhardt and has a lot of the same interests as him, such as anime, manga, and games. The two get along very well as online friends.

Plot[]
Hazuki is Takumi’s assigned nurse, as well as his online chat partner, although Takumi is unaware that they are the same person. Going by the name of Grimm, she sends articles about the New Generation Madness to Takumi (chat name Neidhardt).
Grimm chatting with Neidhardt in ESO, and mentioning their guildmate Sister Centipede.
She first appears in person when Takumi checks himself into the hospital. Dr. Fumio Takashina tells Takumi that they will run a few tests to see if he has a sleeping disorder (sleepwalking). Hazuki tells him to get a good rest. Once he wakes up three hours later, she tells Takumi that his results were normal and he does not appear to have a sleepwalking condition. It later turns out that this was not completely true, since Takumi sometimes sleepwalk in actuality.
Her interactions with Takumi in person are very brief and rare, however, as Grimm, she talks to him frequently for the entire duration of the story, telling him all news about the New Gen cases currently happening, as well as frequently using the phrase “Whose eyes are those eyes?” a lot. Naturally, this all is a part of the plan to put psychological pressure on Takumi and make him awaken as a Gigalomaniac.
Hazuki is one of the real New Gen killers, and the girlfriend of Mamoru Suwa, a fellow New Gen killer, and both are members of the Cosmic Church of the Divine Light cult. After getting pregnant by Suwa, she uses their child in one of the New Gen crimes. She then stuffs her unborn child into the stomach of an unnamed victim in the Manchild case. In a later murder, she kills Dr. Takashina by cutting his skull open and using a spoon to scoop out his brain.
At the end of Chapter 9, Hazuki kills herself with a scalpel after her identity as one of the New Gen killers is revealed.

Etymology[]
- The name Shino means “intention, plan, resolve, aspire, motive, hopes, shilling” (志, shi) and “from, whereupon, accordingly” (乃, no). [3]
- Shino's surname Hazuki means “leaf, plane, lobe, needle, blade, spear, fragment, piece” (葉, ha) and “month, moon” (月, zuki).[4]
- Hazuki (葉月) is the traditional name for August, meaning “month of leaves”, with the older form of it being 葉落ち月 (haochizuki) which means “month of falling leaves”.
